India Lock Horns With Kyrgyzstan; Looking For Their 8th Straight Win

Expectations from the Indian Football  Team are at an all time high post breaking into the FIFA Top 100 for the first time in 21 years. The Indian fans would be expecting nothing less than a victory when they lock horns with 32 ranks below Kyrgyzstan at Bengaluru's Kanteerava stadium.

Here is all you need to know about today's encounter -

  • India and Kyrgyzstan  are currently ranked at 100 and 132 respectively
  • Both teams had won their previous matches of their AFC Asian Cup Qualifiers. While India defeated Myanmar 1-0, Kyrgyzstan beat Macau 1-0
  • Macau and Myanmar are the other two teams in Group A.
  • Whoever wins today brightens their prospects of qualifying for the AFC Asian Cup 2019 to be held in the United Arab Emirates.
  • AFC Asian Cup is an international association football tournament run by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) and is the second oldest continental football championship in the world after Copa América.
  • Both these teams have played against each other thrice and India have had the better of them twice.
  • India have come into the game after winning seven official international matches on the trot, including a 2-0 victory over Nepal last week

On paper, it looks like an easy encounter for India. In a land of cricket fanatics, the Indian National Football team probably never played under the burden of such huge expectations before. You can follow the match live on Star Sports 1 and Start Sports 1 HD. It can also bee seen on Star Sports Tamil. The match can be live streamed at Hotstar.

ARSENAL 2017/18: NEW SEASON, SAME OLD ARSENE WENGER?

It’s Groundhog Day as Arsenal disappointed yet again at the beginning of a new season as did the boss, Arsene Wenger with some questionable decision making. The Gunners extended their ignominious record of losing one of the two opening league games for the 8 th season in a row. After securing a record 7 th F.A Cup with Arsenal as manager, Arsene Wenger signed on for two more years, despite much publicised calls from the Gooner fan-base for his sacking (including flying banners by plane). The Gunners broke the bank for securing Alexandre Lacazette from Lyon for an estimated € 53m, making him the club’s record signing. Arsenal also added to its roster, Bosnian international Sead Kolasinac on a free transfer from Schalke Arsenal embarked on a pre-season tour of Asia and Oceania where they played against Bayern Munich and English Champions Chelsea. Back home the Gunners took part in the Emirates Cup, where other participating teams were Sevilla, Benfica and RB Leipzig. Arse...
