5 Talking Points From India V Bangladesh T20I

India convincingly defeated the Bangla Tigers by 6 wickets with 8 balls to spare. Let us have a look at the top talking points from yesterday’s match.
1. Rohit’s repeated failures and KL Rahul’s absence
KL Rahul averages a healthy 50+ in T20Is and a superb strike rate of close to 150. However, he has been warming the benches since long. Rohit’s repeated failures are a cause of worry for the Indian team. It surprised many when he was given the captaincy for this tour even after the sorry South Africa tour. Rohit will need to play a noteworthy knock in the next match to justify his selection ahead of KL Rahul
2. Vijay Shankar vs Hardik Pandya
I know this is just Shankar’s 2nd match and it is too early to compare. But this guy has shown promise and how. Man of the Match in just his 2nd international match, that’s no mean feat. His batting has not been tested yet but he has surely impressed with the ball. There has been lots of talk around Hardik’s lack of consistency and one thing is for sure, there will be comparisons. Not a bad problem for India to have though.
3. Rubel’s fiery spell
Though India won the match comfortably, however Rubel Hossain did ask the Indian batsmen a few questions. The 28 year old bowled his heart out and initially troubled the Indian openers with great variety and pace. He was ably rewarded with two important wickets of Pant and Raina. Definitely a positive Bangladesh should take from this match.
4. India’s sloppy fielding
The Indian team’s fielding has improved by leaps and bounds in the last decade and today comfortably can be counted amongst the best in the game. So, it is not a common sight to see these Indian fielders drop catches. It has been a cause of concern in South Africa as well and when seasoned folks like Suresh Raina drops catches, it is definitely something to ponder upon
5. Bangladesh’s lack of an anchor
The Bangladesh team in the last few years has shown lot of promise and on their day, defeated the best in the business as well. However, this is no secret that they lack consistency. Every one of them has shown individual brilliance on their day but to do it as a team is what matters, to play the anchor’s role. Only time will say how things change post Shakib’s arrival
